Thank you so much, Iowa City

Thank you so much to everyone who put so much effort into this campaign. This was a people powered campaign, we had very very little money, and still won a decisive victory for working class people.

As I said from the beginning, this campaign was more than just one city council election. It’s a rallying point for working class people. We don’t need to ask permission to improve our communities, to protect our most vulnerable, and to build a better world. That change is gonna happen from the bottom up.

If you’ve been inspired by this campaign, do not stop here. Unionize your workplaces or make your union more radical, organize a tenants union, engage in extensive mutual aid work. If we organize our communities, it doesn’t matter what the state or federal government throws at us, we can refuse their authority. We can defeat their fascism. We can become ungovernable.
